Our Services

7+, 11+, 13+, ISEB Pre-test

Our tutors specialise in supporting students through the entrance process to a wide-range of London day schools, as well as boarding schools around the country.  Starting with an assessment to analyse your child’s potential as well as areas of strength and development, we will then devise a personalised tuition plan and discuss suitable tutor and school options with you.

Lessons are structured and in line with the tuition plan, and you will receive post-lesson reports to give you full visibility of your child’s progress.

We also have a unique partnership with online platform Atom, which allows us to assign and monitor work in key subjects: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. This is a proven methodology which has resulted in students successfully gaining entrance to their preferred school.

Our Story

Josh is the Founder-CEO of Irvine Education.  A committed and enthusiastic educationalist, his passion began whilst completing his degree in Biomedical Science at King’s College London.  Following graduation, he began tutoring full-time and progressed to become a Senior Partner at a successful tutoring company. Knowing he wanted to do more to support the educational needs of young people, Josh created Irvine Education to shape tutoring services around his own personal experience as an extremely successful tutor.  An active practitioner, Josh has over 3000 hours tutoring experience, and has successfully enabled students to gain admission to Eton College, King’s Wimbledon, St Pauls, and Putney High, amongst countless others. He is committed to a personalized approach to learning, believing the educational experience should be shaped according to the needs of the student.

In his spare time, Josh enjoys cycling, independent cinema and reading.

Irvine Education was founded in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 crisis and lockdown.  The Founders recognized the impact the pandemic was having on the lives of children and their access to education.  Recognising that education will be the key to ensuring the next generation are well equipped to respond to the World’s challenges, the Founders came together to form Irvine Education, with a goal on bringing education to those who need it most.

Initially with a focus on South-West London, the use of virtual technology has allowed us to successfully tutor children all over the UK, as well as overseas in countries such as USA, Canada and South Africa.

We passionately believe that every child is special and, with the support of personalized tutoring and examination preparation, can stretch their potential and achieve their educational dreams.  It is a privilege for us to be able to support them on this journey.

Testimonials

I have been so impressed with Josh and his team at Irvine, my daughter actually looks forward to lessons with him. His initial assessment was incredibly helpful as he was able to identify my daughter’s strengths and weaknesses and able to give me an indication of where she stood within her peer group, even suggesting schools that he thought were within reach – some I’d never even thought would be on our list! Being in a state primary school, the idea of applying to an independent secondary school seemed daunting, but Josh reassured us and gave us confidence he would help through the entire process, from the tutoring, school selection and through to the exam and interview preparation. After just six months of tutoring, my daughter’s teacher told me during our last parent-teacher meeting that her level, as well as her confidence, had increased substantially in both Maths and English.

Josh has taught our 8 year old son for over two years now and was instrumental in him gaining admission to St Pauls. While our son is naturally very bright academically, getting him to engage can be a challenge. He gets bored easily and it requires teachers of patience and high emotional engagement to get the best out of him. What really stood out was Josh’s ability to constantly engage him by being patient, structured and creative, which make him enjoy the subject rather than thinking of it as work, and this really got the best out of him.

— A, London

What’s the secret of a great teacher? Well, clearly knowing the subject matter is critical, but sometimes it’s the teacher’s ability to understand who they’re teaching that allows them to get the best they possibly can from their student. Josh has worked with two of my children over the last 2 years, both with hugely different remits. He quickly understood their unique characters and requirements. He coached them with skill and sensitivity, and was consistently engaging and professional.

2020 was a crazy year for all schoolchildren but for kids with ASD or SEN it was even more confusing. Over the course of the year Josh provided his deceptively laid back input which has helped enormously. The boys love him, he “gets” them, and also gets the best out of them. He is extremely gifted and erudite.
